Tom Tiffany and David Crowley topped the vote in Waupaca County in contested races for governor in the Aug. 11 primary election, according to unofficial results.

On the Republican side, Tiffany received 5,486 votes countywide to Andy Manske’s 211. Tiffany led in every reported municipality, including 159-1 in Iola Township and 132-8 in Iola Village.

In the Democratic gubernatorial primary, Crowley tallied 1,929 votes to Francesca Hong’s 1,654. Other candidates and their county totals were Kelda Roys, 396; Joel Brennan, 309; Sara Rodriguez, 180; Mandela Barnes, 179; and Missy Hughes, 24. Crowley led in most municipalities, though Hong ran strongly in several, including a 55-63 edge for Crowley in Scandinavia Town.

In the Republican contest for lieutenant governor, David Varnam defeated Will Martin, 3,232-1,900. Varnam carried every municipality listed.

For secretary of state on the Republican ballot, Jay Schroeder led with 2,604 votes, followed by Brayden Meyer with 1,000, Nate Pollnow with 781 and Cindy Werner with 676. Schroeder topped the vote in all reported municipalities.

Democrats chose a nominee for state treasurer, with Yee Leng Xiong edging Dylan Ray Helmenstine, 2,080-1,969. Xiong led in most municipalities, while Helmenstine carried Harrison Township 23-12 and Helvetia Township 29-27.

In the 8th Congressional District Democratic primary, Rick Crosson received 1,555 votes to Mark C. Scheffler’s 1,304 and Katrina deVille’s 1,299. Crosson led in Scandinavia Town (66), Iola Village (59), and several other areas.
