SYTTENDA MAI: On Sunday, May 17, Norwegians worldwide celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day and commemorate the signing of the document in 1814, marking Norway’s independence from Denmark. Many people in Iola-Scandinavia mark the occasion, especially at the Crystal Café.

CYCLING ENTHUSIASTS: Central Wisconsin’s red granite roads are becoming the foundation for a new outdoor recreation push aimed at turning the region into a national gravel biking destination.
The Granite Belt is developing a gravel cycling network of roughly 900 miles across Marathon, Lincoln, Langlade, and Shawano counties, with Wausau positioned as the central base camp. The system is expected to formally debut on June 6. Read the Wisconsin Public Radio story here.
