The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Shiocton, 9-4, in a CWC-East game on Thursday, May 7 at home. The Thunderbirds trailed 4-1 after three innings but scored six runs in the fourth inning and added a run each in the fifth and sixth innings for the win.

The T-Birds improved their conference record to 7-3 and their overall record to 11-3.

The bottom third of the Iola-Scandinavia lineup of Rayanne Clendenning, Ava Printz, and Katie Rosenthall had six of the team’s 12 hits. Clendenning had three hits, including a one-run triple in the fourth inning and a one-run double in the sixth inning. She finished with three RBIs.

Printz, Braelyn Jueds, and Brylee Jueds each had two hits. Printz and Braelyn Jueds each had a double, and Brylee Jueds had a triple. Braelyn Jueds also drove in two runs in the game.  Rosenthal and Brooklyn Berrens each had a double.

Pitcher Rayanne Clendenning went the distance to earn the win. She allowed four walks and had five strikeouts.

The varsity team will travel to Weyauwega-Fremont on Monday, May 11, in a CWC-East game.  The game will start at 4:30 p.m.
