Junior runner Revyn Schrank secured a top-10 individual finish to anchor the Iola-Scandinavia cross-country program at a highly competitive Division 3 meet on Friday, Sept. 26, in Marshfield.

Schrank powered the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ team to a 13th-place finish in a field of 19 teams, crossing the finish line of the 5,000-meter race in 20 minutes, 8.1 seconds to capture seventh place overall. On the boys’ side, Evan Linjer paced the Thunderbirds to 21st place out of 26 teams, placing 55th individually with a time of 18:22.6.

Phillips won the girls’ team championship with 65 points. Paxtyn Duellman of Cochrane-Fountain City secured the individual title, winning the race in 18:35.2.

Behind Schrank’s standout single-digit placement, the Lady T-Birds built out their team score of 13th place with a 27th-place performance from Nola Mae Vater, who clocked a time of 21:21.5. Abby Swiertz followed for the Lady T-Birds in 24:52.4, finishing just ahead of teammate Sophia Hausknecht’s time of 24:53.6. Ari Hahn finished in 25:41.4, Lydia Jones crossed in 26:46.0, and Emily Brown rounded out the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ lineup with a time of 27:53.6.

In the boys 5,000-meter event, Marathon took home the top team honors by accumulating 102 points. Unity standout Oliver Gariepy took the individual crown, clearing the field with a winning time of 15:58.5.

After Linjer’s team-leading 55th-place effort, the remaining Thunderbirds packed together to finish with a 21st-place team score. Andy Holder was the second runner across the line for the Thunderbirds, posting a time of 20:49.0. Parker Poehlman secured a time of 21:14.6, while Brecken Stalter finished shortly after in 21:40.1. Daniel Burns recorded a 21:53.3 finish, closely trailed by Spencer Buelow at 21:55.1. Nikkoli Dominguez completed the Iola-Scandinavia boys lineup, registering a time of 23:01.1.
