Iola-Scandinavia runner Revyn Schrank captured an individual championship on Oct. 1, outpacing the field in the girls 5,000-meter race to highlight local performances at a multi-team cross-country meet in Rosholt.

Schrank crossed the finish line in 19 minutes, 32.0 seconds to win. Her victory anchored the Iola-Scandinavia girls team, which finished seventh out of 10 teams with 143 points. Wittenberg-Birnamwood captured the top girls team honors, finishing with 49 points.

Nola Mae Vater was the second runner to finish for the Thunderbirds, taking 17th place with a time of 21:46.4. Iola-Scandinavia also received scoring support from Sophia Hausknecht, who placed 50th in 24:08.7, and Ari Hahn, who came in 57th with a time of 24:57.9. Lydia Jones placed 74th in 27:00.4, while Hannah Olson rounded out the girls lineup by finishing 83rd in 29:00.4.

In the boys 5,000-meter division, Iola-Scandinavia placed ninth in the team standings with 239 points. Stevens Point won the boys team title with 30 points, while Braden Clarke of New London won the individual race with a time of 16:03.9.

Evan Linjer paced the Thunderbirds in the boys race, finishing 22nd in 17:55.1. Parker Poehlman was the next Iola-Scandinavia competitor across the line, finishing 54th in 19:37.0. Andy Holder placed 62nd for the Thunderbirds in 19:57.5.

The boys squad finished with tightly grouped results from Spencer Buelow and Daniel Burns. Buelow placed 77th, and Burns finished 78th, though both runners clocked identical times of 21:09.3. Brecken Stalter also competed for the Thunderbirds, finishing 90th with a time of 21:55.1.
