The Scandinavia Village Board approved several contracts and administrative actions during its regular monthly meeting on March 10, including a mowing agreement, sewer maintenance work, and support for a new kayak launch at Silver Lake.
President David Mork called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. in the Community Room at the Municipal Center. Trustees Mike Hayes, Kelton Wilhite, Kyle Swenson, and Daniel Koehler joined Mork, along with Clerk Alison Dunham, Deputy Clerk Mike Stockwell, and Treasurer Bob Fredy. All votes passed unanimously on 5-0 motions.
The board awarded a mowing contract to Green Boyz after reviewing proposals. It also authorized the City of Waupaca to perform flushing and jetting of the village sewer mains, with Trustee Hayes agreeing to make contact. An update on the sewer system noted that an annual subscription for lift station monitoring had been paid, and recent issues caused by a time change had been resolved.
In other park-related business, the board accepted a quote from American Fence to repair the fence at Ellison Park and directed the clerk to coordinate with the village’s insurance carrier. Trustees also voted to allow the Iola-Scandinavia School District to use the Ellison Ballfield, provided the district supplied a current certificate of insurance.
The board approved a letter of support for the Scandinavia Booster Club’s grant application through Greenways to fund a new dock and kayak launch at the Silver Lake Boat Landing.
Financial matters included a decision to cover two-thirds of the cost of QuickBooks for the village and sewer accounts, along with a $300 reimbursement to Treasurer Fredy for a laptop purchased for village accounting. The board also approved bills as presented and reviewed year-to-date financials. Cash fund balances were verified.
