The Scandinavia Town Board met Wednesday, July 22, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center and approved a zoning map amendment for a 2-acre parcel while welcoming a new Waupaca County Circuit Court judge.

Chair Bryan Fuhs called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. following a Board of Review session scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Board members Brenda Mazemke, Lonnie Pryzbylski, Frank Bauer and Mike Mazemke attended, along with one member of the public, Ricky Ertl.

Bauer moved to approve the agenda and the clerk’s minutes; both motions, seconded by Pryzbylski, carried. Mike Mazemke presented the July treasurer’s report, noting a check register balance of $91,756.53 as of June 30. Bauer moved to accept the report, Pryzbylski seconded, and the motion carried.

The board approved a Planning Commission recommendation to rezone parcel 17-01-44-4, owned by Kenneth and Joanne Mentzel, from Agricultural Enterprise to Rural Overlay. Bauer made the motion, Pryzbylski seconded it, and it carried.

Under road issues, the board noted that Scott Construction had completed cold-mix wedging and chip sealing on scheduled roads and that ditches would receive a double mowing in the fall.

In old business, the board received updates on ongoing matters including the Vandyke and Ron Gavin junk/salvage yards, work on Oak Ridge Road related to the Iola Car Show, a conditional use permit, the Iola Ambulance Service’s 2027 vehicle purchase, and completion of bi-annual bridge inspections by the Waupaca County Highway Department. The Board of Review was adjourned to Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m.

In new business, Diane L. Meulemans introduced herself as the new Waupaca County Circuit Court Branch III judge in a presentation limited to five minutes. The board also discussed proposed dates of Sept. 15 or Sept. 22 at 5:30 p.m. for an annual joint meeting with the Village of Scandinavia; those dates will be presented to the village board.

Bauer moved to approve payment of bills from the Village of Scandinavia, Rent-A-Flash, Old Republic Group, Waupaca County and Scott Construction. Pryzbylski seconded, and the motion carried. The board reviewed land-use permit applications and a notice of intent to cut timber. No public input was offered.

The next town board meeting was set for Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the Scandinavia Municipal Center.
