Scandinavia Municipal Center

The Scandinavia Town Board convened its May meeting on Tuesday, May 13, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center and approved planned road maintenance projects for the year while adopting a resolution to protect local roads.

Chair Bryan Fuhs called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. with board members Brenda Mazemke, Lonnie Pryzbylski, Frank Bauer and Mike Mazemke present. Public attendees included Ricky Ertl, Renee Hosket, and Scott Hosket.

The board unanimously approved the agenda and accepted the prior meeting minutes and the treasurer’s report. Mike Mazemke presented the report, which showed a check register balance of $133,784.96 as of April 30. In its most substantive action, the board approved the 2026 road work projects. Frank Bauer made the motion, which included contracting Swenson Tree Service & Logging to mow town ditches. Lonnie Pryzbylski seconded it, and the motion carried.

The board also adopted the Protect Local Roads Resolution 2026-02 on a motion by Pryzbylski, seconded by Bauer.

Board members received updates on several ongoing matters, including the Vandyke and Ron Gavin junk/salvage yards, progress on the Randy Stuczynski Oak Ridge Road project ahead of the Iola Car Show, the Knauer CUP, the Iola Ambulance Service’s new ambulance scheduled for 2027, the municipal center parking lot, and confirmed bi-annual bridge and annual road inspections.

Renee Hosket, a candidate for Waupaca County Clerk of Courts, addressed the board and introduced herself during new business. Several liquor and operator’s licenses for Silver Lake Lanes and the Iola Car Show were slated for consideration at the June meeting.

The board approved payment of the presented bills, including expenses to the villages of Scandinavia and Iola in Waupaca County, as well as to various contractors and vendors. Members also reviewed land use permits and notices of intent to cut timber.

The meeting adjourned after scheduling the next session for Wednesday, June 10, at 5:30 p.m. at the municipal center.
