COUNTY BOARD LEADERSHIP: Iola-Scandinavia is fortunate to have two of its Waupaca County Board supervisors elected to leadership positions. Jim Nygaard of Scandinavia (Town of Scandinavia) is the new chair, and Rick Ertl of Iola (Scandinavia Township) is vice chair. Congratulations!
GOLF TEAM RESULTS: The I-S Thunderbird Boys’ Golf Team placed fifth at the CWC Meet at Shamrock Heights Golf Course on April 30. Junior Michael Kirmse led with a career-best 73 for first place, while fellow junior Dawson Nusz finished 16th, carding an 88.
BASEBALL PREGAME LOOK: Excitement will build at Taylor Field & Park on Monday as the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds and Amherst Varsity Falcons prepare to clash. The bases will likely be busy, with the Thunderbirds averaging 5.5 steals per game and the Falcons set to outpace them at 6.6. Mason Kriesel will seek to add to his team-leading 10 stolen bases, while Michael Glodowski aims to increase his 16. RJ Opperman will showcase his versatility for the Thunderbirds, and Chase Timdal’s powerful bat will be a threat. Both teams will look to extend their strong recent records and make a statement.

BOOK SALE: The Scandinavia Public Library will have its book sale starting Monday, May 11, through Saturday, May 16.
