BULLYING PETITION CIRCULATING: There is an anti-bullying petition being circulated to be presented to the Iola-Scandinavia School District. Over the weekend, a posting on a Facebook page generated discussion about bullying the district and how some pulled their children out of the district as a consequence. The online Petition for Improved Student Safety and Anti-Bullying Action is located here, and Christina Everson is the petition starter, according to the petition.

US REP. WIED APPOINTMENT: The House Committee on Small Business announced that Congressman Tony Wied (R-WI) has been appointed Chairman of the Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure. The Small Business Committee’s Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure assesses the federal procurement system, including programs designed to enhance small-business participation in providing goods and services to the federal government. The Subcommittee will review the broad scope of opportunities available to small businesses to rebuild and modernize the nation’s infrastructure.
