On Iola Lions Honors Night on Monday, May 19, the Lions presented Greg Loescher with a Melvin Jones Fellowship! He is certainly worthy of this honor because of his commitment to the Iola-Scandinavia communities.
Lions Clubs International created the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to honor individuals who demonstrate exceptional service within their local Lions Clubs and communities. Named after Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions International, this prestigious award symbolizes dedication, service, and commitment.
He has served as president of the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce for many years and has dedicated countless hours to the role. From the Iola Fireworks, Iola Winter Sports Club, the Iola Winter Carnival, Taste & Tunes, and silent sports – particularly biking – Greg Loescher is there!
Greg was a committee member for the Chet Krause Park, helped conceive the historical marker program, and is on the Village of Iola Revitalization Committee.
Lion Cliff Mischler said this about Greg Loescher, “His contributions where the Iola-Scandinavia community is concerned seem unbounded to me, his interests and objectives actually remind me of a young Chet Krause.”

Forseth marks 25th
Another milestone was recognized by the Iola Lions at Honors Night.
Mark Forseth was presented with a 25-year Chevron. The Chevron Award is given to commemorate their years of service and encourage them to continue making a difference in their local communities and worldwide.
Mark, a past president, has been extremely active in Lions activities, including the Iola Car Show, work nights, blood drives, and just about everything else the local Lions Club does.
