The Iola Lions Club holds its annual Stuff the Bus event Saturday, Aug. 8, to support area children heading back to school this fall.

Volunteers and community members gather from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Iola Sentry Grocery Store to collect new school supplies. The initiative aims to fill a bus with essential items, ensuring students have the tools they need for academic success.

“Together, we can make a real impact in supporting education by providing our children with much-needed school supplies to be successful heading back to school this fall,” Lion Mark Forseth says. “Please help the Lions send our kids back to school with the tools they need to succeed by donating new school supplies.”

The club welcomes both new school supplies and cash donations. Supporters can drop off early donations at the Sentry Grocery Store, where shoppers can also purchase supplies on site.

In conjunction with Stuff the Bus, the Lions Club operates a Brat Fry from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the same location. Proceeds from the food sales directly fund additional school supplies for the community effort.

The event reflects the Lions Club’s long-standing commitment to local education and youth support in Iola, turning community participation into tangible help for families preparing for the new school year. Organizers encourage residents to stop by, donate, and enjoy a brat while contributing to a stronger start for students.
