WITTENBERG – The Iola-Scandinavia softball team lost its first game of the season at Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 11-1, on Thursday, April 16. The loss dropped the Thunderbirds to 1-1 in the CWC-East and to 3-1 overall. The win improved the Chargers’ conference record to 4-0 and their overall record to 9-0.  The game was stopped in the sixth inning due to the ten-run rule.

The T-Birds were held to four hits. Brooklyn Berrens had two hits, including a double in the fourth inning.  Maya Munoz had a single in the first inning. Sophia Munoz drove in the only run with a single in the sixth inning.

Rayanne Clendenning pitched the first five innings in taking the loss. Clendenning allowed four walks and two strikeouts. Charlotte Isermann pitched ⅔ of an inning. Isermann walked one batter and had no strikeouts. The Iola-Scandinavia defense committed four errors.

Due to the weather forecast, Friday and Saturday games have been canceled.
