MANAWA – The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Manawa, 10-1, in a CWC-East match-up on Monday, April 27. The win improves the Thunderbirds’ conference record to 3-2 and overall record to 6-2.

The T-Birds scored six runs in the first four innings to take control of the game. Iola-Scandinavia added four more runs in the sixth inning for the winning margin.
The Thunderbirds outhit the Wolves 10-4 and took advantage of four Manawa miscues. Brooklyn Berrens and Maggie Maus each had two hits. Maus had two RBI’s, and Maddie Karolus had a two-run single in the sixth inning. Brylee Jueds had a run-scoring triple in the fourth inning.
Pitcher Rayanne Clendenning went the distance to earn the win. She had no walks and three strikeouts. The T-Birds’ defense had one error.

The junior varsity team also beat Manawa, 9-2, after the varsity game on Monday, April 27.
Iola-Scandinavia will travel to Amherst on Tuesday, April 28, for a CWC-East matchup. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
