Jerald (Jerry) Jude Gadamus

September 7, 1947 – August 16, 2026

Jerald (Jerry) Jude Gadamus, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 16.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1947, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

He developed an early love for the natural world that would shape both his life and art.

Jerry’s military service in the late 1960s afforded him a college education. He studied art at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and went on to build a career as a wildlife artist with work featured in national galleries and international art exhibitions. He also donated his work to support wildlife conservation organizations and local community causes. Many local Iola residents purchased his paintings.

Beyond his art, Jerry was a loving husband, son, and brother. He will be remembered for his generous donation of time and talent to all. He enjoyed observing and exploring nature, especially in Yellowstone National Park.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jean; his sisters, Jude (Dick) Gigot, Jeanette (Peter) Stratton, Jolyce (Bob) Rupp, June (Bob) Hess; brothers, Jim (Joanne) Gadamus, Jeff (Sandy) Gadamus; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend Bob Kidd. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Florence (Abts) Gadamus.

Jean, with Jerry’s entire family, sends a huge “Thank You!” out to the Angels among us, especially those located on the third floor of Wisconsin Veterans Home-Ainsworth Hall in King and in the Hospice Wing at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca. Your compassion and care are surpassed by none!

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca, Wisconsin. A memorial gathering will be held at the church from 10-11 a.m. A burial of cremains will take place at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery.
