The Iola Village Board will host a public hearing on its 2027 budget and vote on a proposed 3.3% cost-of-living wage increase for village employees during its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The trustees will convene at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Iola Village Hall, located at 180 S. Main Street. The session is open to the public, and participants must silence their cell phones during the proceedings.

Financial matters dominate the agenda, headlined by the formal consideration of the 2027 Village of Iola budget. Alongside the budget proposal, the board will vote on Resolution 2026-08, which seeks to establish a temporary, $200,000 line of credit with a three-year term. Trustees will also consider applying a special assessment of up to $46,644.64 to property owners’ tax bills to recover unpaid utility charges, fees, penalties, and associated costs.

In other new business, the board will consider hiring a new patrol officer for the village. Trustees will also vote on a $500 Business Spruce Up Grant from the Revitalization Fund designated for the LittleWolf Gallery.

Additional actions scheduled for the evening include setting the date for the 2027 caucus for Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 5:30 p.m. The board will also vote on a pending operator license application for Ahnna Marie Karen Check.

Before diving into new business, the board will review and vote to approve minutes from 11 previous committee and board meetings held throughout October and early November.

The meeting will conclude with a series of committee reports. The Library Committee will present its October circulation and programming statistics, while the Protection of Persons and Property Committee will deliver its October service report. The Finance Committee will present its monthly financial report and review outstanding bills.

The Public Works Committee, the Revitalization Committee, and the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce will also announce their upcoming November meeting dates. Finally, the board will establish the dates for its future November and December meetings before adjournment.
