The Village of Iola Board will meet Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 5:30 p.m. to swear in Officer Shaw, consider alcohol and tobacco licenses for a local business, and review several business assistance grants.
Board members will first hear public presentations limited to two minutes each. They will then consider approval of minutes from the July 14 regular board meeting, the July 23 Public Works & Property Committee meeting, the July 28 working board meeting, the Aug. 5 Revitalization Committee meeting and the Aug. 13 Zoning & Variance Committee meeting.
Under new business, the board will review the 2025 audit. It will also consider a Class “A”/”Class A” alcohol license and a cigarette, tobacco and electronic vaping device retail license for Station Iola LLC at 140 Depot Street, with agent Himmat Dhillon, both running from Aug. 19, 2026, to June 30, 2027. Operator permits for the same period will be considered for Jamie Lynn Stull, Himmat Dhillon, and Robert Eugene Moe.
The board will take up a $500 business assistance grant from the revitalization fund for Eclectic Pursuits, Advanced Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine SC, Iola Coffee Co., Iola Bookkeeping & Tax Service LLC, Iola Mill and Johnson Barber Shop. Members will also consider a variance request for 115 Rulau Road to allow new construction 20 feet from the property line.
Committee reports will follow from Planning & Zoning, the Community Development Authority, Personnel, Library (including July 2026 circulation and programming statistics), Protection of Persons and Property (including the July 2026 protection of service report), Public Works, Ordinance, Parks and Garden, Finance (including bills and the July 2026 financial report), Revitalization and the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce. Several committees will announce upcoming meeting dates.
Board correspondence will include a thank-you letter for donations from the National Fire Safety Council. The agenda notes there will be no working board meeting in August, with the next regular board meeting set for Sept. 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Village Hall.
