The Village of Iola Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, May 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Iola Village Hall, 180 S. Main Street, to address park improvements, community event permissions, financial transactions, and other local matters.

Trustees will review several new business items focused on enhancing public facilities and supporting upcoming events. Among them, the board will consider repair work on the community garden shed by Jesse Pederson for $1,047.82, plus priming and painting on a time-and-material basis, with costs split between the Community Garden and Children’s Garden funds. The board will also discuss expanding two 5-foot gates at Rosie Paw Dog Park to 10-foot gates at a cost of $850 from American Fence and applying epoxy to bathroom floors at Olson Park for easier cleaning and protection.

Financial actions on the agenda include paying an internal loan from the Sewer Fund to the General Fund at $2,500 per quarter until paid in full, writing off $1,558.60 in uncollectable utility debt from three accounts, and paying $604 to Glenn Tetzlaff for unanticipated health care insurance costs.

Event-related items include granting a conditional use permit for up to two specialty food trucks at the June 6 Fish-a-lon at Olson Park, and approving annual and temporary music permits for the Iola Old Car Show at 350 Chrome Place.

The board will also consider Rick Meyers’ resignation as chief inspector of elections and act on requests from Kuhrtis and Mariah Floistad to build fences along property lines adjacent to the village and neighboring properties.

In addition to new business, trustees will approve minutes from multiple recent Parks & Garden, board, and committee meetings, hear reports from the Public Works, Parks and Garden, Finance, and Revitalization committees, and receive correspondence before adjourning. The meeting is open to the public.
