The Iola-Scandinavia School Board will convene Monday, June 8, for its regular meeting, where members will examine the district’s preliminary 2026-27 budget, consider personnel recommendations and receive updates on a possible referendum.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in Room #6 of the Elementary School at 450 Division Street. The public may offer comments after registering with a card before the meeting begins.

Among the key items, the Finance Committee will present the 2026-27 preliminary budget, along with recommendations for health, dental, and vision insurance renewals and for the release of 2026-27 purchase orders. The board will also review proposed student fees for the coming year.

In personnel matters, the Personnel & Nominations Committee will consider 2026-27 co-curricular assignments, several resignations, including high school math and Spanish teaching positions and a JV boys’ basketball coaching position, and hiring recommendations. The committee will also discuss filling the elementary principal position.

The board will hear a district presentation on strategic planning from Nexus and updates on the referendum. It will also act on handbook changes for middle school, high school and elementary levels, plus updates to the 2026-27 athletic code.

Other new business includes approval of 2026-27 WIAA senior high membership renewal, fall JV girls golf and winter JV wrestling co-ops with Amherst, ISFAC membership fees and band/choir overnight travel during spring break 2027.

The board will review recent meeting minutes, financial reports, fundraiser requests, and gifts under the consent agenda. Administrators will deliver reports from the FAC director, business manager, principals, and other leaders. Committee chairs will provide updates from building & grounds, transportation, curriculum, policy, legislation, and negotiations.

The meeting will include WASB and CESA 5 updates and end with a discussion of future agenda items, including working committee and regular board meetings in July and August.
