
The Iola-Scandinavia School Board approved multiple leases, accepted resignations from three staff members, and hired two new coaches during its regular meeting on April 13, 2026. President Mike Harbridge called the meeting to order. All seven board members attended, along with several administrators and community observers.
After approving the agenda and consent agenda by voice vote, the board accepted routine items, including March meeting minutes, financial reports, checks, and several fundraisers. It also acknowledged donations totaling $4,120, including $700 each from the I-S Chamber of Commerce and Iola Lions for DECA competition, $2,000 from Our Savior’s Church for students in need, and $720 from the Iola Lions for a Taylor Field sound system.
In personnel matters under the Personnel & Nominations Committee, the board accepted the resignations of Elementary Special Education Teacher Maria Stake, Middle/High School Physical Education Teacher and Varsity Football Coach Scott Erickson, and Assistant Varsity Football Coach Max Wasikowski. All resignations were passed by voice vote.
The board then approved the hiring of Jayden Sivertson as volunteer baseball coach and Tashiana Lowney as assistant varsity boys golf coach.
Under new business, the board approved a CESA contract, a Young Impressions Lease, a Summer Program Lease, and an Iola Preschool Lease, all by voice vote with no discussion details recorded. A football-related discussion produced no action.
The board heard reports from administration, student representatives, and committees but took no further votes on those items. It also received a referendum update under old business.
The board briefly recessed before entering executive session under Wisconsin statutes to discuss personnel and potential contract non-renewals. No action occurred in executive session. The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
