The Iola-Scandinavia High School varsity volleyball team demonstrated its resilience Sept. 29, staging a dramatic reverse sweep at home to defeat conference rival Manawa 3-2.
The Thunderbirds overcame a sluggish start at home after dropping the first two sets 17-25 and 19-25. Refusing to back down, Iola-Scandinavia found its rhythm to sweep the remaining frames 25-14, 25-23, and 15-9 to lock down the victory.
The comeback win helped the Thunderbirds get back on track after a tough 3-2 road loss to Weyauwega-Fremont on Sept. 24.
With the victory over Manawa, Iola-Scandinavia moves to a 14-9 overall record this season. The Thunderbirds currently hold a 3-2 record in conference play, keeping them firmly in the mix in the local standings.
