I-S Elementary School

Iola-Scandinavia Elementary School is preparing to host its annual Knowledge Lunch event from Nov. 9 through Nov. 11, giving parents a chance to eat with their children and hear about their recent classroom activities.

School officials announced that sign-ups for the three-day event are officially complete. Because of limited time and seating capacity, organizers are emphasizing punctuality for all attending guests.

The event is divided by grade levels across the three days. On Monday, Nov. 9, lunches begin with kindergarten at 11 a.m., followed by second grade at 11:25 a.m. and fourth grade at 11:50 a.m.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, first-grade families will eat at 11:15 a.m., followed by the 4K program at 11:40 a.m. and third grade at 12 p.m.

The program concludes on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with fifth grade at 12:10 p.m. and sixth grade at 12:15 p.m. On Wednesday morning, the district will also host a separate Veterans Day program at 9 a.m. at the high school.

To keep the event manageable for staff, the school has implemented a policy requiring parents with multiple children to attend only the lunch session of their youngest student. Older siblings may come down to the cafeteria to join their family during that designated time.

Visitors are instructed to park on the streets surrounding the school or in the main parking lot before entering through the front elementary doors. All guests must check in at a welcome table inside the entryway.

Adult school lunches are available for $4.65, and tickets will be distributed at the check-in table. Parents who choose to bring their own lunch may bypass the payment table and head straight to the hallway outside the cafeteria to meet their students.

After lunch, families will have the opportunity to learn about current classroom curriculum before students return to their normal daily schedules. All visitors must sign out at the main office upon departure.
