The Iola Historical Society reviewed its recent operations, hosted a local school presentation, and finalized plans for an upcoming fundraiser during its monthly meetings on Monday, Sept. 28, at the Machine Shed at 222 Depot St.

The evening began with a board meeting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. Society members conducted a roundtable review of recent activities and discussed organizational needs.

At 7 p.m., Chris Nelson, an administrator for Iola-Scandinavia Schools, delivered a program detailing the school district’s academics and funding. Nelson’s presentation integrated historical perspectives on the local education system.

In addition to the school overview, attendees coordinated logistics for the Taste of Norway, an upcoming community fundraiser set for Saturday, Oct. 3.

The society scheduled its next board and membership meetings for Monday, Oct. 26.
