The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Laona/Wabeno, 13-3, at home in a non-conference game on Friday, April 24. The game was stopped in the sixth inning due to the 10-run rule. The win improves the Thunderbirds’ overall record to 5-2.
The T-Birds had a 4-3 lead after three innings but broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning. The Thunderbirds added three more insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Iola-Scandinavia and Laona/Wabeno each had eight hits. Maggie Maus led the Thunderbirds with two hits. Charlotte Isermann drove in two of her three runs with a single in the second inning. Brooklyn Berrens had two RBIs.
Rayanne Clendenning pitched the six innings to earn the win. Clendenning allowed two walks and had six strikeouts. The Iola-Scandinavia defense had one error.
The junior varsity team also beat Laona/Wabeno, 10-1, after the varsity game on Friday, April 24.
Iola-Scandinavia will travel to Manawa on Monday, April 27, for a CWC-East matchup. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
