The Iola-Scandinavia softball team lost to Bonduel, 12-5, in a CWC-East game on Monday, April 20, at home. The loss dropped the Thunderbirds to 1-2 in conference and 3-2 overall.

The T-Birds jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Bonduel responded with three runs of their own in the second inning to tie the score. Iola-Scandinavia held a 4-3 lead after three innings, but Bonduel exploded for six runs in the fourth inning to coast to an easy win.  Five of the six runs the Bears scored in the fourth inning came after two outs.

Brylee Jueds’ tag is a little late to get the Bonduel runner out.

Bonduel out-hit the Thunderbirds 17-5. Braelyn Jueds and Brooklyn Berrens accounted for four of the T-Birds’ five hits. Jueds had a leadoff double in the first inning and a run-scoring double in the second inning. Berrens had two hits, including a run-scoring double in the first inning.  Charlotte Isermann had a run-scoring single in the sixth inning.

Rayanne Clendenning pitched the seven innings in taking the loss. Clendenning allowed two walks and seven strikeouts.

Iola-Scandinavia will host Manawa on Tuesday, April 21. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
