I-S Softball drops game to Wautoma

WAUTOMA – The Iola-Scandinavia varsity softball team lost a non-conference game to Wautoma 4-2 on Friday, April 26. The Thunderbirds took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but Wautoma battled back with four runs in the fourth and fifth innings to complete the comeback win.

Julia Munoz had two hits and recorded seven strikeouts.

The T-Birds record is 8-1 in conference and drops to 9-5 overall.

Wautoma outhit Iola-Scandinavia 5-4. Julia Munoz had two hits. The Thunderbirds scored both their runs from third on wild pitches in the third inning.

Julia Munoz pitched all six innings in taking the loss. She allowed one walk and had seven strikeouts. The T-Bird defense provided little help committing three errors in the game.

The varsity team will play Menominee Indian at home in a conference game on Monday, April 29, starting at 4:30 p.m. Prior to the game, seniors and parents will be recognized starting at 4:15 p.m.
