The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Westfield, 15-4, in a non-conference game on Friday, May 15, in Iola. The Thunderbirds scored 14 runs in the first inning and cruised to an easy victory.

Charlotte Isermann pitched four innings and got the win.

The game stopped in the fourth inning due to the 15-run rule after three innings. The T-Birds improved their conference record to 9-3 and their overall record to 13-3.

In the 14-run first inning, Iola-Scandinavia batted around twice and took advantage of several Westfield miscues. Katie Rosenthall had a triple and a single, while Brookly Berrens had a solo homerun over the left-centerfield fence. Brylee Jueds and Sophia Munoz each had two doubles and drove in two and three runs, respectively. Maddie Karolus also doubled in the inning.

Brylee Jueds and Munoz finished the game with three hits. Berrens, Isermann, and Katie Rosenthal each had two hits. Maggie Maus had a two-run double in the second inning. Ruby Maus had a one-run triple in the fourth inning. Emma Printz had two RBIs.

Charlotte Isermann started and pitched the four innings to earn the win. She had no walks and three strikeouts.

The varsity team is at Marathon on Saturday to play two non-conference games against Waupaca and Marathon.
