The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Menominee Nation, 13-3, in a CWC-East game on Tuesday, May 5, at home. The game was stopped in the sixth inning due to the ten-run rule. The Thunderbirds improved their conference record to 6-3 and 10-3 overall.

The T-Birds managed only two hits and held a slim 3-2 lead in the fourth inning, but broke the game open with five runs on six hits in the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, the Thunderbirds took advantage of five walks and some defensive miscues to score five more runs in the sixth inning to end the game.

Iola-Scandinavia outhit the Eagles 10-5. Maddie Karolus led the Thunderbirds with three hits. Brooklyn Berrens had two hits and two RBI’s, including a run-scoring triple in the fourth inning. Charlotte Isermann had a two-run single in the fourth inning. Sydney Bestul had a run-scoring triple in the sixth inning to set up the game-ending run.

Rayanne Clendenning started the game and pitched the first three innings before giving way to Charlotte Isermann to finish the game. She allowed one walk and had six strikeouts. Isermann allowed two walks and had three strikeouts.

The varsity team will host Shiocton on Thursday, May 7, in a CWC-East game. The game will start at 4:30 p.m. The team will recognize the seven seniors and all the parents after the game.
