Started in 2009 by a local couple from Appleton who wanted to offer trips to Washington, DC, from local airports for local veterans so they wouldn’t have to travel to Milwaukee.

Purpose is the same as all the honor flights: to honor and remember those who have served in any branch of the armed services and give back to those who have served.

It is a one-day mission part of the National Honor Flight Network.  It is free for veterans.

The flight is supported by trained guardian escorts, volunteer medical teams, and professional photographers, and assistance from DC Park Police.

There are usually five Old Glory Flights each year. There are two in the spring and one in the fall, and one from EAA in Oshkosh. Around 100 veterans fly to visit memorials in their honor.

Over 8000 local veterans have experienced the flight in the last 17 years.

Veterans are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as there is a waiting list.
