The Helvetia Town Board will convene Nov. 4 to vote on the town’s upcoming budget, address ongoing road maintenance projects, and review a comprehensive planning item involving Yah’s Refuge LLC.
The regular monthly meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the town hall, located at E2544 County Road GG in Iola. A public budget hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m., when residents can review the financial plans before the board votes on final approval during the regular meeting. Town Chairman Jeff Oppor will call the meeting to order, and officials emphasized that the session is open to the public.
A primary focus of the evening will be an extensive road review. The board will evaluate 2026 road projects managed by the Waupaca County Highway Department, including service agreement numbers, patching, and grading.
The board will focus on Carper Road, where the town plans to install culverts, clean ditches, and conduct extensive brushing and tree cutting. Officials plan to send a formal letter to Carper Road residents affected by the upcoming brush cutting. Board members will handle the ditch cleanup, while Mike Grassl is scheduled to perform additional road brushing using a town tractor.
In addition to road infrastructure, the board will discuss comprehensive planning regarding Yah’s Refuge LLC and review an upcoming tax bill insert. The agenda also includes property improvements, including an air conditioning unit project presented by Oppor and the installation of a fire extinguisher in a town tractor.
Other business includes approving the financial treasurer’s report, paying town bills, and approving the minutes from the Oct. 6 regular meeting. Oppor and Gary Prill of the Planning Committee will deliver individual reports.
The board will also preview the upcoming Wisconsin Towns Association meeting, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Waupaca Highway Department.
Before adjournment, the board will open the floor for public input, allowing local residents to voice concerns or ask questions regarding the agenda items.
