The Iola-Scandinavia School District has announced that Jeremy Fritz is the new principal of Iola-Scandinavia Elementary School. He will be starting in the position on Wednesday, July 1.
“It is an honor to be chosen to serve this community,” said Fritz. “I look forward to getting to know students, families, staff, and community members and to building on the strong foundation already in place here.”
Fritz brings nearly 25 years of experience in education. He began his career as a middle school choir director, spending 20 years working in rural and urban school districts. During that time, he coached boys’ and girls’ basketball, directed more than 25 musicals, served as an Internal Coach for PBIS, and supported staff with classroom management, structure, and educator effectiveness. He also taught 5th-grade music.
Most recently, Fritz served the Montello School District for five years as dean of students, assistant principal, and activities director for grades 7–12.
“I have learned throughout my career that great schools are built on strong collaborative relationships and a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment,” Fritz said. “I look forward to continuing to foster those building blocks here in Iola-Scandinavia.”
He is committed to open communication, shared decision-making, and ensuring every student feels a sense of belonging, safety, and support. He welcomes connections with staff, students, parents, and community members and encourages anyone with ideas or concerns to reach out directly.
Outside of school, Fritz and his wife, Carissa, are kept busy by their three children — Kaden, Kara, and Caelyn. The family enjoys weekend road trips, time at their cabin, and outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing.
“Students will always come first,” Fritz said. “My door is always open, and I cannot wait to get started.”
Fritz will have a meet-and-greet with staff, parents, and the community at I-S Elementary School on Monday, July 20, and Monday, Aug. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. You can also meet Mr. Fritz during the Elementary School Open House on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 5-6:30 p.m.
