Diane Shirley Jacobson
March 13, 1938 – September 19, 2026
Diane Shirley Jacobson, 88, of Scandinavia, entered into eternal peace with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026.
She was born on March 13, 1938, in Iola, Wisconsin, to the late Ernest and Bernice (Loken) Erickson. Diane married Neal Peterson on Aug. 5, 1955, at the Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1960.
She later married Marlyn Jacobson on Aug. 26, 1961, at Northland Lutheran Church, and they were happily married for over 57 years. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2019.
Diane treasured spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite activities included playing cards, golfing, camping, bowling, cross-country skiing, and traveling. She also enjoyed gardening and woodworking, and she was an accomplished seamstress, sewing everything from doll clothes to wedding dresses. But her greatest passion was painting. She was a self-taught artist, having never had formal training. Her beautiful art has been and will continue to be enjoyed by many.
Diane had a diverse professional background which included serving as a bus driver for Iola-Scandinavia School District, a rural mail carrier for the Scandinavia Post Office, and a sales representative for Avon, Sarah Coventry, Nikken, and World Book Encyclopedia. She also worked in hotel hospitality and owned her own drapery business. Diane was a faithful member of the Scandinavia Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children: Greg Jacobson of Scandinavia, Joe Jacobson of Amherst, Wisconsin; Penni Jacobson Cremen of Napa, California; Lisa Jacobson Lollis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Also surviving her are grandchildren, Tess, Kate, Kayla, Rachel, Leigh, Chad, Jessica, Haley, Jacob, Max, Ellianna, and Rudy; great-grandchildren, Kiara, Xander, Riley, Audra, Sylvie, Josie, Frances, Jade, Daphne, and a baby boy due to arrive very soon; great-great-grandchildren, Marley, Elaina, Emree, and Alana; a sister, Jane Jenson; and a brother, Terry (Jane) Erickson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her husbands, Neal Peterson and Marlyn Jacobson; her brother, Dennis (Shirley) Erickson; and her brother-in-law, Reuben Jenson.
The Funeral Service for Diane will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at Scandinavia Lutheran Church with Revs. Mark and Marcia Sabin officiating. Visitation will be held at Scandinavia Lutheran Church from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.
