Fischer Carroll of Stevens Point Area Senior High School and Eva Busch of Appleton North captured the individual titles Saturday at the SPASH Invitational, leading a massive field of runners through the trails at Standing Rocks Park near Amherst, Wisconsin.

The varsity boys race belonged to Carroll, who crossed the finish line in 15 minutes, 52.8 seconds to secure first place on his home program’s signature regular season meet. On the varsity girls’ side, Busch dominated the competition, clocking a winning time of 11:48.3 to take the top spot.

The event featured highly competitive team races, where the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds tested themselves against a deep field of programs from across the region.

In the varsity boys division, the Thunderbirds placed 19th out of 21 teams. Evan Linjer delivered the top performance for Iola-Scandinavia, cracking the top 100 with a 70th-place finish. Linjer completed the course in 18:58 to lead his squad.

Following Linjer, the Thunderbirds saw a tight pack complete the course. Parker Pohlman crossed the line in 21:30 to earn 119th place, finishing just ahead of teammate Andy Holder, who took 121st place while matching Pohlman’s exact time of 21:30. Brecken Stalter finished 130th with a time of 22:57, and Daniel Burns rounded out the varsity lineup for the Thunderbirds, placing 135th in 24:09.

In the varsity girls competition, Iola-Scandinavia placed 18th in a 19-team field. The Lady T-Birds were propelled by a strong individual performance from Revyn Schrank, who secured a 24th-place finish by crossing the line in 21:23.

Nola Mae Vater also earned a spot in the top 100 for the Lady T-Birds, placing 65th overall with a time of 23:25. Ari Hahn was the next runner across for the team, finishing 110th in 26:38. Abby Swiertz took 117th place with a time of 27:11, and Sophia Hausknecht finished right behind in 119th place with a time of 27:28 to complete the scoring for Iola-Scandinavia.
