The Iola-Scandinavia School District welcomes Wendy Bonikowske to its team of dedicated educators. With a background rooted in the local community and a passion for making a positive impact on students’ lives, Bonikowske brings experience and enthusiasm to her new role as a Special Education teacher at Iola-Scandinavia Middle School and High School (ISMS/HS).
has called Waupaca, Iola, and Scandinavia home, giving her a deep understanding of the local culture and values that shape the Iola-Scandinavia community.
A product of the Wisconsin education system, Bonikowske attended the UW-Stevens Point after graduating from Iola-Scandinavia High School. She has a strong connection to the district, with her daughters Brenna and Brooke also graduating from Iola-Scandinavia and continuing their education in college. Bonikowske’s commitment to family extends to her spouse, Bart, and her pets, including a cherished dog named Chip and two cats, Stitch and Nala.
“I like to make a difference in the lives of students,” Bonikowske shared when asked about her choice of a career in education. Her dedication to this mission is evident in her involvement as a Girl Scout leader in Iola and as a Pee Wee cheerleading coach for the Iola Firebirds, nurturing the potential of young minds both inside and outside the classroom.
When not shaping the minds of the future, Bonikowske enjoys a variety of interests and hobbies. She enjoys streaming movies and TV series and bowling, baking, and fishing.
Sports also play a significant role in Bonikowske’s life, as she finds joy in supporting local high school and middle school teams. Among her favorites are the T-Birds.
One interesting fact is that Wendy Bonikowske was born on a Marine base in North Carolina on Christmas Eve! “The nurse was not happy to be there, I heard,” she noted.
