VEHICLE SALE FRAUD: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has noted a troubling trend in the number of scams by vehicle sellers posing as car dealers online. DMV’s Dealer and Agent Section tracks this activity, investigates consumer complaints, and offers tips to customers. The fraud scheme starts online as a fake storefront. Read the story here.

FEDERAL WORKERS: How many federal workers are in Wisconsin? There are 18,000, according to the Congressional Research Service. State locations of federal agencies DOGE is seeking to terminate include, according to Spectrum News, the Milwaukee Department of Defense location; its value is listed at $186,700 and its total savings prediction is $933,500; the Madison U.S. Fish and Wildlife location is set for termination, with a value of $58,142; and, the Defense Contract Management Agency in Merrill with a value of $6,067. DOGE wants to consolidate Green Bay’s Social Security Administration to save $131,145. The Journal Sentinel reports that 10 federal workers have been fired at the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.

EV CHARGING STATION BILL: US Rep. Tony Wied (R-WI 8th) introduced the Unplug the Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Programs Act to end the electric vehicle (EV) charging station programs from the so-called infrastructure bill, which resulted in just 59 stations being built nationwide in over three years for $7.5 billion.
