Around Town

SAND MINE MEETING DELAYED: People in the town of Scandinavia will continue to wait for a decision about the Iola sand mine project. A county committee voted to push back a vote, again. The conditional use permit has been denied once before, but that decision is now under appeal. See WBAY story here.

THANKS HOLLY: Holly Neumann is giving up her journalistic coverage of the Iola-Scandinavia and Manawa communities, a job she’s been doing since 2009. We wish you well in your new endeavors! See a wonderful story about her career in the Waupaca County Post here.

EDUCATIONAL GRANTS: The Rotary Club of Waupaca made the following grants to the Iola-Scandinavia School District. The first is a $320 to expand the Middle School and High School gardening program into learning about native prairie plantings. The second $1000 for family and communitywide reading program for the elementary school. Thanks Rotary!

ODIN & FREJA’S PLACE: Did you know that DADDIO recorded their first CD, “Live in Scandinavia”, at our music venue?! Did you also know that the CD will be available for purchase this Friday? Get your holiday shopping done while listening to these superb musicians.
