The 3rd Annual Yuletide Trail will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, in downtown Waupaca. The Waupaca Area Arts & Culture Network, comprised of businesses and local organizations, created the Christmas event to bring a unique holiday celebration to Waupaca. The main activities of the Yuletide Trail will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with many shops and restaurants being open later.
The day incudes a Cookie Walk with stops at participating downtown shops to collect your homemade cookies. Inside the tins you will find a special Coupon Book and a map to all the cookie stops. You can purchase a limited-edition collectable cookie tin in advance at the Holly History and Genealogy Center: Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB; Northern Home or Community First Credit Union. On the day of the event tins will be available on the City Square. Tins are $20 and are limited. Sale of the cookie tins benefit the Waupaca Historical Society and are sponsored by Community First Credit Union.
Waupaca Community Theater Carolers will be strolling Main Street singing your favorite Christmas songs starting at 11a.m. followed by a Community Sing-A-Long at 12:30 p.m. on the City Square. And the City Square will also be home to Make-a-Craft; Hot Chocolate and popcorn, Fire Circles, Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a drop off for winter collection of snow pants, gloves, mittens, and boots for local school children. Sizes being collected are 4T to 12. The Danes Hall will have an open house and will also be collecting ‘Toys for Tots’ from 10 a.m. to 3p.m.
Shops and restaurants will be open to welcome holiday shoppers with many offering specials through out the day.
Children will have the opportunity to pick up a free holiday book at Farmers State Bank, Hometown Pharmacy, Lucky Tree or the Waupaca Area Public Library. Then watch the Facebook page for the schedule of the online story-time, when a local talent will read the story and you can follow along. It is asked that you only pick up one book per family at a location.
The City Square will be adorned in holiday fair with a 10-foot Christmas tree decorated in red in the bandstand, all awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus around 1p. Santa will be touring the city starting at 11a.m. and will end his neighborhood tour at the City Square. Watch the Facebook page for details and a map to see if he will be coming through your neighborhood.
