Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office and Iola Car Show to host free family fun event with helicopter landing and vehicle demos

Families from across Waupaca County and beyond will gather this summer for an exciting and educational event like no other. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the iconic Iola Car Show, will host a free, family-friendly community celebration on Tuesday, July 29, at the Iola Car Show Grounds in Iola, Wisconsin.

The event will kick off in the afternoon and offer a dynamic mix of fun, food, and hands-on experiences that aim to foster stronger community bonds. Highlighting the evening will be the scheduled landing of the ThedaStar medical helicopter at 5 p.m. — weather permitting — which is sure to be a thrilling spectacle for attendees of all ages.

Local first responders, including sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and EMTs, will be on-site showcasing a wide array of emergency and specialty vehicles. Attendees will get the rare chance to explore inside squad cars, fire trucks, ambulances, SWAT vehicles, race cars, monster trucks, dump trucks, tractors, and more.

“This event continues to bring our community together in such a meaningful way,” Sheriff Timothy Wilz will say ahead of the gathering. “It’s incredible to see connections form between families, first responders, and community partners.”

The interactive lineup also includes: A fire extinguisher simulator, live K9 demonstrations, kids’ activity stations, a dunk tank, local food vendors, and additional surprises

What makes this gathering stand out is not only the entertainment but also the opportunity for meaningful interaction between residents and the local heroes who serve them. Over the years, this collaborative event has grown into a cherished tradition, uniting law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and the broader community in a festive and engaging atmosphere.

Organizers emphasize that the event is entirely free, welcoming everyone to enjoy the summer evening and connect with those dedicated to keeping the community safe. Whether you’re a car enthusiast, a curious kid, or just looking for a fun evening with the family, the Iola Car Show Grounds will be the place to be on July 29.
