Waupaca County Republican Party Chair disagrees with Rep. Petersen’s vote on abortion

According to an email sent out to members of the Waupaca County Republican Party, Chairman Joel Bartel wrote, ”… if you are not aware Kevin Petersen voted to allow abortion up to 14 weeks, he is sending emails out to try and spin his position that he is reducing the ability for abortion from 20 weeks to 14 weeks, which he says is current law.  But in reality once the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade in Wisconsin abortion was outlawed in our state.”

Bartel feels that Rep. Petersen and Rep. Robin Vos should have let the court appeals process work its way through the system. He feels if that route had been taken, “we wouldn’t have had any abortions in our State.”

Bartel also stated that Petersen is “giving Waupaca County Republicans a bad name.”

“We in Waupaca County are strong conservatives and stand for strong values, and we have a standing resolution against abortion. It is my job as chairman to inform our Caucus of elected officials who are not doing what the Caucus wants.   Kevin has sold out to Madison and Robin Vos,” Bartel wrote.

The Waupaca County Republican Party’s annual caucus is this Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Hidden Waters Golf Course in Waupaca. Bartel has invited Rep. Petersen to attend and “explain things to us. I bet he won’t be there!”
