Volunteers needed for Iola Winter Carnival

The beloved Iola Winter Carnival is just around the corner, running from Friday, Jan. 31, to Sunday, Feb. 2. This cherished community event promises a weekend filled with frosty fun, including ice sculptures, a chili walk, kids’ ice fishing, a craft fair, and a traditional lutefisk supper. The organizers are calling on volunteers to help bring the magic of this annual celebration to life.

This year, the event will have a trolley so attendees can visit all the activities.

The Iola Winter Carnival, a hallmark of winter festivities in the region, has something for all ages. Attendees can look forward to:

  • Amazing Ice Sculptures: Marvel at intricate designs by talented artists.
  • Delicious Chili Walk: Warm up while sampling unique chili recipes from local chefs.
  • Kids’ Ice Fishing: A fun, hands-on outdoor experience for young anglers.
  • Craft Fair: Browse handmade goods and support local artisans.
  • Lutefisk Supper: Enjoy a hearty meal and honor Scandinavian traditions.
  • Ski Jumping and Fat Tire Bike Racing at the Iola Winter Sports Club grounds.

How you can help

Organizers are seeking volunteers for various roles, and a meeting for the lutefisk supper will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
