The Village of Iola Park Committee met on July 28 in the Iola Community Center.
Upcoming Fundraisers: Sept. 3, Iola Sentry Grocery Store, Brat Fry and Bake Sale from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Rick discussed needed volunteers to help with sale and make bakery items. (Volunteers: Rick, Natalie, Erika, Pamela, Kathy-bakery pies; possibly others). All proceeds benefit the Dog Park.
Beginning of 2023 – New Calendar Raffle Ticket $10/ticket instead of $20/ticket and less ticket sold (proceeds for Dog Park). Rick spoke with Laura about obtaining State Raffle number for future raffles.
Starting October 2022 through December 2022 – Fund raising raffle to benefit Village Parks, winning ticket drawn day of Christmas Parade (Location: hopefully at Historical Society where Santa will be). Various donations to be raffled off: homemade Artisan Crafts, local business gift certificates, Chamber gift baskets and more (Missy will speak to Chamber at next meeting). Want to keep ticket prices low at $2 each. Each prize has a number; ticket holders choose which one they wish to win, more details coming.
Mounting Vidar: Park Committee will be working to erect Vidar, who has now been restored and sitting in storage for about 1.5 years. BankFirst will pay to have a poured cement base made. Vidar will be placed in the same area as in the past, but just moved back from the street for safety reasons before position was in too close proximity from the street making it hazardous for onlookers.
Village Park Recreational Plan: Rick has been working with Betty and checking with UWSP Engineering Department as well to reduce Village expenditures. Hoping to have students participate in such projects to fulfill class assignments.
Fencing: Darlene Kriewaldt has contacted the Village and offered some of the fencing surrounding George’s junk piles. Rick will reach out to Darlene, possible use is pickle court or others).
Upcoming meetings: Aug. 25 at 5:30 p.m. regarding additional preparation for September Brat Fry and Bake Sale, additional preparations and any changes for Park Committee upcoming fundraising event; Sept. 6 at 5 p.m., organizational meeting and final planning to begin raffle staring October and ending in December.
