The Village of Iola Finance Committee met on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. in the Iola Community Center’s Community Room.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dave Harper at 2 p.m. in the Community Room.
Roll call was taken by clerk Aanstad. Present: Finance Chairman Dave Harper, Jim Rasmussen, Pamela Parks, Jennifer Schustek, Missy Fenn, Deputy Clerk Laura Krogwold, Police Chief Paul Zierler, Library Director Robyn Grove.
Library Director Robyn Grove presented a 2023 proposed budget to the finance committee for the Iola Library, with options for wage increases.
Chief Paul Zierler presented a proposed 2023 budget to the finance committee for the Iola Police Department, with options for wage increases.
Chairman Harper spoke on behalf of the Public Works Department and stated he had talked to Public Works Director Glenn Tetzlaff and Glenn suggested the Village look into consider buying a dump truck in 2023. Glenn feels that if they watch the surplus auctions, they may be able to purchase a used one for a reasonable price in good condition.
Employee insurance was discussed regarding the employee’s portion increasing from 15% to 20%, in 2023.
Trustee Rasmussen made a motion to give an employee cost of living increase of 6.25% for 2023. Trustee Parks seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Trustee Rasmussen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Trustee Parks seconded the motion. Motion carried. Chairman Harper announced the meeting was adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
