The Village of Iola Board of Trustees will convene Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of Iola Village Hall, 180 S. Main Street, to address several matters, including the resignation of Trustee R. Meyers, the appointment of a new board member, and a resolution establishing “Iola Donor & Volunteer Day.” The meeting will also consider multiple license requests related to the Iola Rural Fire & Ambulance Fall Festival set for Oct. 4.
The session will open with procedural formalities, including the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence, and roll call, followed by a public comment period limited to two minutes per speaker. Trustees will then vote to approve minutes from seven previous meetings held between July 8 and Aug. 11, 2025.
Under new business, the board will formally accept the resignation of R. Meyers and proceed with appointing a replacement trustee to fill the vacancy. The new board member will join in time to participate in upcoming committee work.
Resolution 2025-09 will be presented to establish “Iola Donor & Volunteer Day,” recognizing contributions from residents and organizations. If approved, the resolution will serve as an annual observance aimed at community appreciation.
The board will also consider issuing a Temporary Class “B” Picnic License for the Oct. 4 Iola Rural Fire & Ambulance Fall Festival, and waiving the standard $10 fee. Additional agenda items include approval of a Temporary Operator’s License for Todd Donald Snyder to serve at the event and a waiver of the associated licensing fee.
Committee reports will update trustees on various matters, including the status of the welcome sign project from the Community Development Authority, July 2025 library circulation statistics, and the monthly Protection of Persons and Property report. Financial business will include review of bills and the July financial report, with notice of the next joint Finance and Personnel Committee meeting set for Sept. 2 at 9 a.m.
Future board dates will also be confirmed, including a working meeting on Aug. 26, if needed, and the next regular board meeting on Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. The Aug. 12 meeting will close with correspondence, other business as presented, and adjournment.
