On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the Village of Iola Board will convene at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Iola Village Hall, 180 S. Main St., to address several important agenda items impacting the local community.
Major topics include the nomination of successors for multiple village trustee and president positions, zoning recommendations from the Village Zoning Board, and resolutions concerning local governance and resource allocation. The meeting will also feature public comment opportunities and a review of recent committee activities.
Key agenda items
Leadership nominations through caucus
The evening’s meeting will initiate with a caucus session to nominate successors for key leadership positions in the Village. Open floor nominations will determine candidates for three Village Trustee seats, currently held by James Rasmussen, Richard Meyers, and Alan Bauer, and for the position of village president, currently held by Jennifer Schustek. Appointing a caucus chair to oversee proceedings will be the first order of business.
Public hearing on zoning recommendations
A public hearing will follow the caucus to discuss zoning recommendations presented by the Village of Iola Zoning Board. Residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinions during the public comment period. Topics for discussion include proposed changes to the zoning map, which aim to align property designations with current developmental goals.
New Business
The board will address several pressing new business matters:
- Acceptance of Trustee Resignation: The resignation of Trustee Mark McCoy will be formally acknowledged.
- Resolution 2025-1: The board will vote on reallocating the Vehicle Replacement Fund Account to the General Fund.
- Zoning Map Adjustments: Proposed updates to local zoning regulations will be discussed and potentially approved.
- In-Person Voting Initiative: Plans to facilitate in-person voting for the Township of Iola will also be reviewed.
The board will confirm the accuracy of minutes from previous meetings, including those from December 2024 and early January 2025, to ensure continuity in decision-making processes.
