The monthly Village of Iola Board meeting was held Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 at 6 p.m. via
GoToMeeting and in person, by special accommodations.
President Joel Edler called the regular monthly meeting of the Iola Village Board of Trustees to order.
Edler made the open meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Board are open to the public.
Board members present: President Joel Edler; Trustees: Jim Rasmussen, Terry Murphy, Missy Fenn, Kathy
Briquelet, Dave Harper, Pamela Parks. Others present: Bruce Meagher, Clifford Mishler, Clerk Betty Aanstad. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Edler.
Edler entertained a motion to approve the agenda for the Aug. 10 meeting. Dave
Harper made the motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Jim Rasmussen. Motion carried.
Edler entertained a motion to approve the minutes of the hearing for July 13. Harper made a motion to approve the minutes, Pamela Parks seconded it. Motion carried.
Rasmussen made a motion that the Village of Iola buy a new election machine. Parks second
the motion that was presented at the last meeting after reviewing at this meeting. Motion carried.
Mishler presented to the village board the expansion of Chet Krause Park. Brian Derus and
Tammy Jo Berg have asked to deed over the old Bank First parking lot to the Chet Krause Park. Clifford is looking for approval from the board to take possession of the property. Any changes that would be made to the property would be funded privately. The village would be responsible for snow removal and mowing. Edler asked for a motion of donation of property. Motion made by Harper, seconded by Murphy. Motion carried.
Dave Harper made a motion to appoint Kerber Rose as the Village Auditor, Briquelet seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
Joel Edler entertained a motion to add election officials. Pamela Parks made a motion to accept Shannon
Dane and Heidi Klinger as Chief Inspectors, and Kristin Enoch, Abigail Briquelet, Janet Tofte, and Richard Meyers as Election Officials. Briquelet seconded. Motion carried.
Committee reports
Protection of Persons and Property Committee: Police Report – None
Personnel: Reminder of Personal meeting Aug. 12 at 11 a.m.
Parks: Kathy Briquelet talked about the status of where they are at regarding a new sign at Tayler Field.
Sewer and Water: None
Library: Jim Rasmussen reported to the board an additional payment was made to the library loan for the addition.
Finance,Bills: Harper made a motion to pay the bills after the finance committee has had a chance to review
them on Wednesday. Seconded by Jim Rasmussen. Motion carried.
Edler entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion made by Rasmussen, seconded by
Murphy. Motion carried.
