Vikings dominate Green Lake 8-2

BABA South Central Division Clash Playoffs Round 1

The BABA South Central Division playoffs kicked off in style on Sunday, Aug. 13, at Ellison Park in Scandinavia as the Scandinavia Vikings faced off against the Green Lake Thunder in a highly anticipated showdown.

In a display of prowess on the diamond, Scandy emerged victorious with a convincing 8-2 win over Green Lake, securing their position in the next round of the playoffs.

The game showcased exceptional performances from both teams, but it was the Scandy hitters who stole the spotlight. Braden Hunkins led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 at the plate and delivering a powerful home run that drove in 2 runs. RJ Rosenthal was also in fine form, going 3-for-4, while Jake Hoffman contributed to the scoreboard with a home run of his own.

On the mound, Marcus Jaworski put on a pitching clinic for the Vikings, striking out 8 batters over 5 innings. His dominant performance earned him the win for the day. Hunter Netzler took the mound for Green Lake but faced a resilient Scandy lineup, ultimately shouldering the loss. Ben Lee rounded out the pitching duties for Scandy, helping to secure the victory.

Green Lake’s hitters, although faced with challenging opposition, managed to make their presence felt. Gregg Danke went 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Christian Weiss and Austin Bond also contributed to the scoreboard with their hits.

With this victory, the Vikings advance to the next round of the BABA South Central Division playoffs, showcasing their determination and skill on the field. The Vikings will be patched against the New London Irish for a 1:30 p.m. game in Scandinavia.
