Vikings crush Clintonville 14-1 to secure third-straight championship berth

The Scandinavia Vikings stormed past Clintonville with a decisive 14-1 victory in a Badger Amateur Baseball Association Central Division playoff game on Sunday, Aug. 25, in Scandinavia. The win propels the Vikings into their third consecutive Grand Championship game.

Ben Lee led the charge for the Vikings, both on the mound and at the plate. Lee earned the win, silencing Clintonville’s offense while also contributing with his bat, going 2-for-3, including a home run and 2 RBIs.

Brayden Hunkins delivered a standout performance, going 2-for-2 with two towering home runs and driving in three runs. Logan Moe added to the offensive onslaught, going 2-for-5 with a triple and 3 RBIs, as the Vikings dominated from start to finish.

Clintonville struggled to find any rhythm against Scandinavia’s pitching, with Hunter Volmer being the only Clintonville player to collect multiple hits, going 2-for-5. Brode Smejkal and Mitch Ebbon each added a hit, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.

The Vikings will now face the Little Falls Loggers in the 78th Grand Championship game on Sunday, Sept. 1, in Scandinavia. This marks the third straight championship appearance for the Vikings, who have emerged victorious in the past two title games. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m., with Scandinavia hoping to continue their dominance and secure another championship.
