Valerie B. Thompson

Valerie B Thompson, 92, of Iola, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023.

She was born on Nov. 13, 1931, in Polonia, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Pauline (Rekowski) Ostrowski.

Following her father’s death, her family moved to several different farms in the area.  Valerie and her mother operated the farms along with the other siblings.

In 1965, Valerie moved to Chicago and later married Richard Thompson, and they eventually moved back to the Iola area. Richard preceded her in death in 1978.

Valerie enjoyed the outdoors along with traveling.  Her most favorite trip was to the Holy Land.  She was a very active member of St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Rosholt, Wisconsin, and was known by many to be the “Great Communicator”.

Valerie is survived by a brother Dennis Ostrowski, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Theresa Dryszel, Anna Pochinski, Mary Nitka, Martha Jazdzewski, Regina Wojtalewicz, and Irene Korpalski; and brothers Aloys, Nickolas, Henry, Sylvester, Felix, and Raymond and Frank Ostrowski.

The Funeral Mass for Valerie will be held on Thursday, Nov 29, at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Rosholt. Father Thomas Nirappel will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola from 4-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and on Thursday at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Cemetery.
