VIKINGS ADVANCE: The Scandinavia Vikings defeated Clintonville 14-3 to advance to the BABA Grand Championship against the Antigo Polar Bears. Game is set for Sunday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. at Kretz Field in Antigo.

SCANDINAVIA BOOK CLUB: “The Family Chao” by Lan Samantha Chang is the new Book for the Month for the Scandinavia Public Library. Discussion of the book will be on Tuesday, Sept. 26, with Fika, which is the Swedish tradition of enjoying coffee and a treat with friends. The library will have coffee, tea, and some tasty treats for patrons to enjoy starting at 3:40 p.m. Copies of “The Family Chao” are available to check out at the Scandinavia Public Library, or you may place a hold through Infosoup: https://infosoup.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S181C779284. Book Group normally meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month from January through November.

DOG PARK OPENING: The Iola dog park will open Tuesday, Sept. 5. According to a post by Rick Meyers, “We ask everyone to please don’t go in there until then as we have work to do yet, no fees to use it will be charged for the rest of the year, bring your own water as we have to raise more money to have it piped down next year. Make sure your dog has its shots and no dogs under 4 months old allowed. Please clean up after your dogs we will have a board up soon with all the rules on it.

HUNTER EDUCATION: The Hunter Education Course registration night is Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. at the Iola Conservation Club. Classes will cover responsibilities of hunters, firearms safety in the home and afield, knowledge of firearms and hunting equipment, tree stand safety, wildlife identification and management, marksmanship and outdoor skills. The class will be limited to 30 students. Cost of the class is $10.
