Around the State

PHONE SCAM: The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department has received reports of a phone scam where individuals are impersonating members of the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office. The caller may use real officer names and claim there are outstanding warrants, missed jury duty, or legal issues that require immediate payment. They often demand gift cards, wire transfers, or other suspicious methods. This is a scam. The WCSD office will never call and ask for payment over the phone or request personal financial information.

CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT REDRAW: A new lawsuit seeking to redraw Wisconsin’s congressional district boundary lines was filed on Tuesday, less than two weeks after the state Supreme Court declined to hear a pair of other lawsuits that asked for redistricting before the 2026 election. The latest lawsuit was filed in Dane County Circuit Court. Read the WMTV story here.
